Getting started

From a new account to a planned week in about ten minutes.

TeachDay keeps one planbook per school year: your classes, your bell schedule, your rotation, and the lessons that flow through them. Here is the quickest way in.

1. Choose how to start

The first time you sign in, TeachDay asks how you want to begin:

  • Set up my planbook opens the setup wizard.
  • Explore a sample makes a Grade 3 planbook with a real week in it, so you can try the shift tool on something that is not yours. It does not count toward your plan, and one click deletes it.
  • Import brings in plans from PlanbookEdu or Planbook.com (see Importing).

2. The setup wizard

  1. Year: the first and last day of school, and your marking periods.
  2. Classes: a subject or a course section each, with a colour.
  3. Days: your bell schedule as blocks with times. Add a second day pattern for half days.
  4. Rotation: weekly, A/B, or a numbered cycle, and what a snow day does to it (see Rotations and the closure rule).
  5. Preview: check a week, then finish.

3. Plan the week

On the week view, press + Lesson or click an empty block. Lessons for a class are kept in order, so adding one in the middle pushes the rest along. Open a lesson to write it in your template’s sections.

The tour and tips

A short tour shows the week, a lesson, moving lessons, + Lesson and units the first time you open a planbook, and ends at Settings → Modes. Take it again here or from the menu under your name. Small tips appear on some pages; each can be dismissed, or turned off for good.

Modes: standards and AI help

A new planbook starts with planning: classes, your schedule, lessons and units. In the planbook’s Settings → Modes you can turn on Standards (assign standards to units and lessons, and track coverage and pacing) and then AI help (suggest and check standards, draft lessons and worksheets). Turning a mode off hides it; nothing is deleted.
